Tucked away in a idyllic surroundings nearly 42 km far from Jaipur, off Jaipur-Agra highway No. 11. Fort Madhogarh was once an abode of legends, just when the plasters of the fort were peeling off and stone slabs falling under the ravages of time, the family whose ancestors had got it as a gift from Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh of Jaipur, embarked on the project to convert it into a heritage hotel in July 2000. This glorious hilltop fort offers some magnificent views of its surroundings like small brick like structure of Madhogarh village lying at the foot. The delightful views from the uprising fort leaves visitor with the feeling of ecstasy, situated on an elephant back shaped hill.

Fort Madhogarh Hotel With A Legend !!!
This colonial building of Fort Madhogarh is believed to have been built in the 17th century or even earlier. According to a Canadian geologist 'Thomas Iannelli', while enjoying the Rajput-hospitality, found time to delve deeper into the rocky surface. He consider that this fort sits on two-billion-year-old sequence of quartzite (Hard Rock) and schist (Soft Rock) that were originally deposited in a shallow marine sea as layered muds and sands. The Madhogarh fort entered the books of history, when Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh Ji choose to make this fort his headquarters in his campaign against the Marathas. The decisive battle between the Rajputs and the Marathas was fought in the plains of Tunga, just about 1 Km from Madhogarh, on 28th July 1787.

The battle started at 9 am and lasted till about one hour after sunset. The combined Rajput army of Jaipur and Jodhpur once fought the bloodthirsty battle against the Marathas from the corridors of Madhogarh Fort. Even today in some fields in Tunga pieces of rusted equipment and human bones are found. The Present owner, Thakur Bhawani Singh, the fourth generation directed descendant of Thakur Pratap Singhji, has now renovated the Madhogarh Fort and converted it into a family run heritage hotel. Guests can now experience the famous Rajput hospitality and relive the glory of a bygone age. Guest can also enjoy a stay in Pratap Mahal, which was once the room of Maharajah Sawai Singhji of Jaipur.
