Situated in close vicinity to the Amber Fort is the Jaigarh Fort is one of the impressive architecture in Jaipur. It is established on a mountain cliff and is said to have served as huge battlements in the medieval years. The fort encompass a vast area and is built in marvelous walkways that offer breathtaking overview of the whole Pink City.

Jaigarh Fort was constructed in 1726 AD under the regime of Maharaja Jai Singh. Its present architecture date back to ruling period of Jai Singh II. The majestic fort was once the treasury of the Kachhwahas. And, in order to inspect any hidden royal treasures, it was sealed for 7 years by the government. Later, in 1983 the whole structure was announced as a tourist destination.

Jaigarh Fort Architecture
The Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur, Rajasthan highlights the power of bygone ruling Rajputs and Mughal dynasty. Constructed for the sole purpose of defense, it is also called as Victory Fort. The 20-foot long barrel with its wheel of 9 feet diameter exhibits the military technique, that date back to 1970. A tank positioned in the fort complex measures about 158 feet by 138 feet and its dept is about 40 feet. It has the capacity of about 60,00,000 gallons of water. The fort stands apart from any comparison and and has never been captured by any rulers.

Jaigarh Fort is tucked on a barren hilltop, namely, Cheel Ka Tilla(Mount of Eagles) and is about 400 feet above the Amber Fort. The massive walls of this magnificent fort spreads over 3 kms. A visit here offers the attractions of Shubhat Niwas(Meeting Hall of Warriors), Museum, Diwa Burj(Watch Tower), Jaivan(a cannon weighing about 50 tones) and Armory, where one can have a close view of powerful age-old weapons like cannon balls, guns, muskets, shield etc.

Jaipur offers more about the vigor of erstwhile eras. In addition to visiting Jaigarh Fort, tourist can get around Amber Fort, Gaitor(a resting place for Maharajas) and Jal Mahal submerged in Man Sagar lake. The worth seeing structures are fine examples of Rajput architecture.
